Linen Lovers

Turn vintage table cloths, table linens, feed sacks or plain flour sack dishtowels into beautiful, funky or elegant items for everyday use. Perfect items for gift giving or boutiques. A wide variety of samples with many trims and techniques will be shown. The possibilities are as varied linens are available. Bring linens such as old (but quality!) tablecloths and towels or purchase flower sack dishtowels at class. Full day class.


Hand Embroidery

In years past, young girls practiced embroidery stitches on samplers by stitching alphabets and verses. Fashion your own “sampler” while learning several embroidering stitches and tips to make your embroidery look professional. Supplies and tools will be discussed. Half day class. Ideal class to pair up with Linen Lovers class. Half day class.


Hand Embroidery - Quilting Included!

One step embroidery and quilting. Learn to quilt a block as you embroider it. Sew the blocks together with or without sashing, a little stitch in the ditch, binding and the quilt is done. Supplies and tools will be discussed. This speedy technique is a great take-along project. Full day class.


Shake, Rattle and Roll

“We stack, we cut, we shuffle, and we sew it all back together again and never mind about adding seam allowance!” Square up your blocks and you’ve mastered it. Make this 43” X 67” quilt with fat quarters. Buggy Barn Heart Crazies pattern available for purchase. Great technique for placemats and table runners. Full day class.


Machine Applique

You won’t believe that this appliqué was done on a machine! Learn this quick and easy machine appliqué technique using freezer paper and your sewing machine while making one block for a pillow or the entire bunny quilt / wall hanging. A sewing machine with adjustable blind hemstitch is required. Purchased pattern required. Half day or Full day class.


Hand Applique

No need to fear the “A word” any longer. This appliqué method using the freezer paper (your training wheels) is the ideal method for beginners to learn how to appliqué. Adhere the freezer paper to the back side of your fabric with an iron, and then use a glue stick to turn under the edges. Appliqué is the perfect take along project, with a few supplies you can stitch wherever. Make one block for a pillow or the entire bunny quilt / wall hanging. Purchased pattern required. Half day or full day class.


FINISHING SCHOOL

Binding Basics

A well-done binding is the perfect touch to your quilt. Learn proper techniques for making a binding edge which is full of batting - - the criteria of a discerning judge. Make bias binding, sew it to the quilt, joining binding tails, mitered corners and sew the binding down. Bring a quilt ready for binding and binding fabric or work on a practice quilt sandwich. Half day class.


Binding -- Finish with Flair

You’ve spent lots of time and hard earned money making a quilt, now give it the elite finish which it deserves. Work on a practice piece while learning to make piping or flanges and apply them it to a quilt, stitch on binding, miter crisp corners, join the binding tails and stitch the binding down. Samples will be shown. Full day class.
